10:48 am: Holy shit. Holy shit. Holy shit. You know when an idea hits you? It just hits you? Like a freight train? I just had one for an upcoming fic. It's been so long since I've been hit like that. It's not a funny thing, it's a sexy thing, but I fucking love it. If anyone wants to talk about it, please let me know, because I think that'll help it gel. But it's for a fest, so I can't do it in a post.

10:06 am: Okay, I think I know what appetizer I'm going to take to M's. I make this great dip out of soybeans and avacado. The avacado makes it creamy, the soybeans are a lot like hummus when you process them. It's very healthy and won't fuck her up, but it's also delicious. I might even shred some cheese on top or something. Maybe mix in a little cream cheese? I can bring chips or pita chips or vegetables to dip in it. Now I just have to go shopping and get dressed and . . . *yawn* I want to go back to bed. I got up too early.

08:14 pm: lols!
We have probably close to two feet of snow outside right now. Boss closed the shop early today and yesterday, and it's still snowing! I got stuck at work and had to have handsome new law clerk (Rock Star) dig me out.

Then I got home and looked out my window, and I saw this car with Why R U HERE? written on the side in the snow:
I don't know if it's an existential, rhetorical/observational type of question or a pointed remark about parking in the handicapped spot, but either way I lol'ed.

Then I made a green chile smothered burger and cooked a stuffed pepper; I stuffed it with couscous cooked in olive oil with Italian seasonings and, since I had no tomato paste, I used the diced tomatoes and tomatillos from my leftover stew and mixed it with hamburger and worcestershire sauce. It's KICK ASS.

08:58 am: Firefox Issue
I'm having such troubles with Firefox. My mouse pointer suddenly stops working; everything becomes unclickable and the screen freezes. If I click outside the browser and get back in, that solves things for one click, then I'm back to frozen. I saw a lot of other people complaining about this on the FF site but no real answers. Has anyone else had this problem? Right now I'm working in Opera, but that won't do. If I can't find a fix for this, it's back to IE for me. :(

07:37 pm: I know I need to reply to comments and emails, but I need a break tonight. After being super productive at work, I decided I'd go by the occult bookstore for some gifts and stuff and then drive by a house I was interested in. But then the bookstore overcharged me (almost double!) and then I couldn't find the house, because it was so dark, and then I was all over the place driving home because a huge storm is coming in. We're expecting up to 20 inches of snow, I heard. Fuck that shit.

So anyway, now I'm really tired, and I just want to nap. Plus I'll have to get up early because of that nasty, filthy, repulsive snow. *sigh*

11:07 pm: France Questions
K, I have a fic tentatively set in France. I know, I'm not writing about where I've been. I took French in junior high and that was as close as I came.

So; has anyone been to France? Care to give me any advice about mistakes you see regularly when people try to set stuff there? I will probably have only two scenes in public. I'd like one in a marketplace and one in an alley. What do you think? What would you expect to see? Any pictures? How would people act in a marketplace?

Some of these questions may sound stupid, but I know there are huge cultural differences. Here in America, we have conglomerates where we shop; in places like Target or Walmart you will find all your food, clothing, toys, gardening equipment and electronics in one place. Americans are lazy. We don't shop at more than a couple of places if we can help it. Apart from that, there is no haggling. Haggling is practically unheard of unless you are looking to buy a car or a house. When you buy a bunch of roses at Walmart, you don't barter. In fact, you probably don't talk much to anyone. You take the roses, walk them to the cash register, make small talk, "Cold out, isn't it?" pay for the roses, they offer by rote to help you to your car, you say no, you leave. If you want a conversation, you can have one, but most people are busy and don't want to hold up the line behind them.

So anyway. So if someone in France was buying roses, how would it go? Where would they go? What would the shop/city look like? Different from the sterile and all-so-alike Walmarts of the world, I expect.

If someone in France was being attacked, what would they scream? Who would come? Would actual citizens come or just the police? (Here you just never know.) I know in France there are laws about helping bystanders.

I'm foggy on details right now. I don't know if I want city or countryside. I'm thinking city, to get an alley. I'd like a dark place to kidnap someone. But I'm not married to the idea. Any thoughts? I don't know how different our cultures really are, since I've never been there.

If you could help me out, please respond quickly with any answer you can give. I'm right up against having to include setting. I don't want to fuck it up too much. Yikes!
